Hiii,
Today I invite you to transition into the weekend with this Restorative Yoga practice. In this video I use couch cushions, a blanket, and yoga blocks. Have as many pillows/cushions and blankets as you need. Use other supportive props such as an eye pillow/cover, maybe soothing music, dim lighting, use whatever you want to integrate into this practice to make it the most restorative, restful and nourishing.
In this 20 min video, I guide each restorative shape for about 2-3 ish minutes. In traditional restorative yoga practices each pose can be held for 5-20 minutes! The emphasis is stress reduction and the release of tension.
Once you know what each posture looks like or entails, I invite you to stay in whatever shape you enjoyed the most for a longer period of time.
By remaining in the poses for longer periods of time, the actions in a Restorative Yoga practice reach deep into the nervous system, restoring homeostasis, the body’s self-regulation system that maintains life. This practice can dissolve chronic tension patterns, and support emotional balance by bringing the body, mind, and emotions back to a state of equilibrium.
