Like the flower, we contain earth, water, air, sunlight, and warmth. We contain space and consciousness. We contain our ancestors, our parents, our grandparents, education, food, and culture. The whole cosmos has come together to create the wonderful manifestation that we are.
-Thich Nhat Hanh, The Art of Living
Today’s practice invites us to take a moment for ourselves to reset and connect with our breath, body, and energy. It also invites us to connect with the five elements: fire, air, space, earth, and water.
The image below shows super top secret insight from my notes from my yoga teacher training (YTT) program. There are more appealing and aesthetic images of hands/finger and the elements, but I thought sharing this would be a bit more personal. If your practice includes mudras, this information may also be helpful in knowing which elements are involved in each specific sacred hand gesture.
Without getting too much off topic, I hope you find a moment or 5 minutes worth of moments of peace and inner connection with this practice.
